You are you, we are all not you. Everyone is different. I happen to like the guild war sounds other than the Yeti spamming.
Saying that everyone should have the exact same preference as you is just ridiculous. Maybe you like apples and he likes oranges, that doesn't mean he MUST change to like apples too. The world doesn't resolve around you and all your preferences.
If the Yeti sound spammers like the Yeti sound so much, let them hear it. For the rest of us who hate the repeated spamming, we certainly dont need to hear that for the next 15 minutes and we certainly dont need to change district or disable our sound system.
The ambient sound in town is part of game that we are entitled to hear. Nobody should be able to stop us from hearing that.

I dont want every person to have the same preferance as me, i was meerly stateing a point. I dont mind if you want to listen to the sounds. I just dont want people to QQ because the game is suddenly ruined by someone who is having a bit of fun.

Meh, if complaining about a legitimate issue is stupid, then complaining about people who QQ about it way more retarded.
It is a QQ thread, but so are 90% treads in this forum (possibly even more). At least there are some suggestions to fix the issue: disable tonic sound, disable tonic sound for others, option to disable tonics sound, disallow to spam emotes...
Anyhow, I hope my wish will be granted.

Most threads are QQ nowadays.
At least this has more substance than the "when will ANet release GW2 info?" thread.
Obvious answer: "When they are ready. Duh..."
QQ no GW2 Beta, no more purpose in life, yeah....

I agree it must be disconcerting when you want to hear whats going on in town, like a PM, but cant because of excessive noise being purposely spammed by griefers. On the other hand, I can appreciate the interests of those people who received the Yeti tonics and simply want to enjoy them. Although I would think that mature people would not want to cause others unnecessary grief simply so they can pester others.
I still contend that ANet probably didn't consider the impact and should re-visit the issue, considering all sides here.
As someone else earlier in the thread stated, a poll might be an interesting thing to see. Give everyone one vote on the merits of modifying tonic sounds, Yetis and beyond.

I said it earlier in this thread, and I will try to be more precise as I repeat it:
No one has to be left out with one simple solution. The sounds are tied to the emotes, when someone unchecks the emotes in the chat window, they no longer have to see the text descriptions of enotes used in their chat window, simply bind the tonic emote sounds to that checkbox as well.
P.S. when I say simply, realize I'm not sure just how 'simple' it would be for Anet, I just think it's the solution that solves the problem with no individual being harmed by the solution.

Anet got rid of pet noises in towns for the same reason. I can't stand the annoying noises either from the yetis and the golems for that matter. They're just way too loud.
Had I the money, I'd buy up all "Look at me I'm special" tonics and drag them all to the little trash icon in my inventory.

little late for this post but i just bought an everlasting yeti
IMO it would be completely disappointing if they got rid of the sounds
Some of you say it is not fair that you should have to turn down the sound or change districts, it seems like a fair point at first, but what else is there to listen to in towns? In the event someone is spamming it in a district than press the little off button, it is blanket punishment for those that have the tonic but don't spam it.
Others complaint is that after 10 minutes it starts to get a little annoying. Also a fair point, but what are you doing in any town for 10 minutes? spamming recruiting messages for your guild or trying to sell/buy something in spamadan? If everyone was banned for spamming trade chat there would be nobody playing guild wars. So simply getting rid of something for spamming is completely pointless, it isn't killing anyone.
should quit bothering over silly things, would give a-net more time to work on GW2 so they don't have to delay it until 2012 now.
Love for the Yeti and should stay that way.

All they have to do is take out a pointer to an audio file in the GW.dat file to kill the sounds. Not a lot of work for a programmer.
KILL THE YETI SOUNDS!!

It is not all that bad. Yes, sometimes you'll hear a Yeti or hear a Golem Tonic. Just don't give any attention to them and they'll stop doing it. Besides that: in town, the sounds and so on isn't all that important and brilliant. In the explorable areas it is, and there will be no annoying players. In WoW, there are some of those stupid mammoth beasts that players can ride, and the make a bunch of noise as well as making your screen go up/down all the time, not to speak of some stupid beasts that will spread green clouds while they're walking, which some players use as a pet in town, now THAT is annoying.

I'd vote for removing sounds.
I'd also vote for removing tonics entirely.

yeti sound has never been a problem. I've always played GW with no sounds, I'd rather have my own music playing than listen to the ingame stuff.

Simply add a timer so you cannot spam them (similar to rank emotes).
That way you can still have the sounds, but you cannot spam them to annoy others.

That's because Trade Chat is used just for that - Trade.

Yeti sound spammers like the fact that other people are hearing the freaking sounds. An option menu does absolutely nothing. In fact the only rationale I can see for not removing the sounds entirely is that their annoying, attention-getting sounds are part of their economic value.
"Turn down all your sound effects" is just a retarded solution. Really, I have to shut off my entire game volume whenever I entered a populated district, and then turn it back up later so I can hear stuff? How is that not even more annoying?
Mini-pet sounds were banned from outposts for a reason, these guys deserve the same. If you like you can set the tonic up so only the user can hear the sounds, but let's face it, no-one cares about that. It's just as useless as texmodding your cape to Rawr when no-one else can see it.
